NOTICE OF MISCELLANEOUS VACANCY POSITION: LUNCHROOM MONITOR

Beach Elementary School JOB SUMMARY
This is a part‑time miscellaneous position working in the school lunchroom in an elementary school. The role requires monitoring students from the time they enter the lunchroom until they leave. It involves significant periods of standing and walking in a typical school environment. Employees are required to think, concentrate, and interact with others, come to work regularly and promptly, and work under stress while meeting all deadlines.
Incumbents receive general direction and evaluation from the Principal, Vice Principal, or designee.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND EXPERIENCE- High School Diploma or possession of a General Education Development (GED) Program Certificate.
- Knowledge of student behavior as applied to children.
- Ability to work effectively with children.
- Ability to supervise student behavior, maintain discipline, and perform general lunchroom duties.
- Must possess good human relations and communication skills.
- Ability to read and write.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as Calvert County Public Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
- Demonstrated success in accomplishing tasks akin to those responsibilities listed below.
- Monitors students and assures proper student conduct in the lunchroom.
- Communicates with students and school staff in a positive and professional manner, utilizing appropriate customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Organizes students into orderly lines for the purchase of lunch, milk, or snacks.
- Circulates throughout the cafeteria or in areas where meals are served and/or eaten, assisting students as needed.
- Assists with the cleanliness of the cafeteria.
- Dismisses classes in an orderly manner at the scheduled time.
- Encourages good table manners.
- Participates in training sessions and meetings as scheduled.
- Thinks, concentrates, and interacts positively with others.
- Comes to work regularly and promptly.
- Works under stress and meets deadlines.
Performs related work as required or assigned by the Principal, Vice Principal, or designee.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSRequires moderate physical effort, including standing for extended periods of time.

FLSA STATUSNon‑exempt.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT180 days/year (student days only), 2.5 hrs. per day, mid‑day; rate of pay: $15.00/hr all employees are encouraged to have automatic payroll deposit.
EFFECTIVE DATE OF POSITION2025‑2026 School year.

References must be directly related to educational experience and must include immediate supervisor.
State law requires that anyone hired after October 1, 1986, who will have contact with school children, must be fingerprinted and submit to a criminal background investigation. Federal law requires that a new employee must complete the Employment Eligibility Verification (Form I‑9) in person before beginning employment. Employment is conditional upon successful completion of a drug screen. Current employees of the Calvert County Public Schools are exempt from these requirements.

Pursuant to Section 6‑113.2 of the Education Article, Annotated Code of Maryland - House Bill 486 - Child Sexual Abuse and Sexual Misconduct Prevention all applicants are required to report all former employers in which you may have had direct contact with minors. The applicant must submit the contact information of the current employer, all former school employers, and all former employers not school related.
Applicants should also include contact information for organizations in which you have volunteered, coached, mentored, tutored or otherwise had direct contact with minors.
