Job Goal

Under the direction of the Director for Special Education, the Infant and Toddlers Coordinator will assist the staff in the improvement of delivery of special education services to students with disabilities.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and oversight of the Infants & Toddlers program, a multi‑agency program with the Department of Social Services and Health Department.
  • Work collaboratively with the Special Education Supervisor and Grants Manager in the maintenance of the budget and accounting for the Infants & Toddler Program.
  • Provide leadership and support to all Infants & Toddlers staff members, including contracted service providers, relative to assigned tasks, including implementation of services and compliance with regulations in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Provide services to infants/children with developmental delays and related disabilities and consultation to parents, families, and agencies.
  • Work collaboratively with the Special Education Preschool Teacher Specialist to ensure the timely and appropriate transition of students from the Infants & Toddlers Program to school‑based services.
  • Collect and analyze pertinent data from the Statewide Part C Data System to refine and improve operational functions and services; provide accurate and timely data to MSDE; and support grant funding.
  • Assist in the development, coordination, and monitoring of federal and state grants supporting the Infants and Toddlers Program.
  • Complete required forms for grants management and data collection accurately and in accordance with established timelines.
  • Provide professional development to support programming, family and community partnerships, and compliance and legal mandates.
  • Assess state and federal regulatory and policy changes for local impact.
  • Monitor and manage data and provide oversight in the development and implementation of Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP).
  • Provide leadership for inter‑county collaboration to ensure that the Infants and Toddlers Program is an integral part of the community.
  • Facilitate professional development/in‑services for Infants & Toddlers and school staff.
  • Evaluate, assess, and provide services to parentally placed private school students or other Part B students who are not receiving services through the KCPS.
  • Work collaboratively with other PreK special education teachers and therapists to develop IEPs for students not receiving services at a KCPS school.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Maryland Advanced Professional Teaching Certificate (APC) with an endorsement in special education or related services provider, or related field.
  • Completed a minimum of five years successful teaching experience.
  • Demonstrate leadership ability.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of child development, learning theories, and effective teaching techniques.
  • Has thorough knowledge of special education compliance and procedural requirements, as well as requirements related to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
  • Knowledge of general education curricula and how to modify it, as well as how to differentiate instruction for students with disabilities to provide specially designed instruction.
  • Has good verbal and written communication skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Has a willingness and capability to work beyond the normal workday.
  • Able to react to change positively and productively.
  • Flexible and willing to perform other duties as assigned.
Terms of Employment

As found in the agreement between the Kent County Teacher’s Association and Board of Education this is a Ten (10) Month Full time position.

Salary

Teacher’s Lane Step established by the Superintendent.
