Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Call for Applications: Mental Health Workshop for Investigative Journalists
Location: Street

The Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism (WSCIJ), as part of its Civic Space Guard programme, invites investigative journalists and editors to apply for a one‑day virtual workshop on mental health and emotional resilience, themed ‘Holding the Line:
Mental Health and Emotional Resilience for Investigative Journalists.’

Investigative reporting often places journalists in close contact with difficult realities, including conflict, corruption, and the lived experiences of victims of violence and injustice. Repeated exposure to such situations can carry emotional and psychological pressures that are rarely acknowledged but can significantly affect the well‑being of reporters.

This workshop is designed to provide a safe, confidential space for investigative journalists to reflect on the emotional demands of their work, share experiences, and learn practical coping strategies to strengthen their resilience while continuing to pursue impactful reporting.

The three‑hour virtual session will be held on Tuesday, 18 March 2026, bringing together investigative journalists and editors working on sensitive or high‑risk stories. Guided discussions and practical insights will help participants manage stress, maintain emotional well‑being, and sustain their commitment to accountability journalism.

Eligibility Criteria

The workshop is open to investigative journalists and editors who:

  • Are currently working on, or have recently completed, sensitive or high‑risk stories
  • Are willing to engage in open but confidential discussions
  • Are able to commit to the full three‑hour workshop on 18 March 2026

Interested applicants are encouraged to complete the application form on or before Thursday, 12 March 2026.
