General Laborer

General Laborer – HTI Contractors Division, H&K Group, Inc.

HTI Contractors Division of H&K Group, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced and motivated General Laborer to become a part of our team. The Laborer will perform a variety of tasks in a utility capacity, moving from one task to another as needed on construction projects.

• Performs all work adhering to OSHA and company safety policies
• Acquires tools needed for daily operations
• Measures distances from grade stakes, drives stakes, and stretches tight line
• Bolts, nails, aligns, and blocks up under forms
• Signals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications
• Levels earth to fine grade specifications
• Mixes concrete
• Smoothes and finishes freshly poured cement or concrete
• Positions, joins, aligns, and seals pipe sections
• Erects scaffolding, shoring, and braces
• Other duties as assigned
• Paving Duties
  • Assists with pre‑run markings
  • Uses a paving lute to fine grade before roller compacts
  • Operates vibratory plate as needed
  • Shovels asphalt as required
  • Direct traffic around work area as required
• Pipe Duties
  • Gets tools needed for daily operations
  • Sets up pipe laser for daily function
  • Operates a Wacker and a jumping jack to perform back filling duties
  • Uses cut saws to make pipe proper length
  • Preps pipe for connection before pipe gets lowered
  • Shoots grades and checks grades using laser or conventional methods
    
    Performs connection of pipe work
  • Checks for proper pipe slope
  • Preps structures for installation

• One month of related experience and/or training (equivalent experience and education may be considered)
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
• Problem‑solving skills
• Ability to fit test and utilize appropriate PPE as needed
• Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)

• Experience working in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries
• OSHA or other relevant safety certifications
