Robert Half has partnered with a small construction contractor in the on the eastern shore to hire a Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager to directly support the Controller on all facets of accounting and financial reporting as the company continues to grow.  Anyone living from Annapolis to Easton would be commutable! You will partner with the Controller to ensure accounting records are accurate and up to date, assist with preparing accrual based financial statements, and help the business grow.

We are looking for a solid technical accountant who can come in and add immediate value! You will assist the Controller with analyzing accounting and internal control systems, creating policies and procedures to enhance reporting and create efficiencies and more! We are seeking someone who wants to be a team player, will maintain a positive professional attitude, is reliable and will offer remarkable client services to internal operations, managing self and others with a sense of urgency, practicality and accountability.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Complete monthly Work In Progress (WIP) calculations

- Assist with month-end closing of books and preparation of financial reporting packages

- Develop and maintain relationships with customers and project managers

- Monitor and forecast the flow of cash receipts and disbursements

- Complete monthly sales tax returns for all necessary regions

- Oversee the entire revenue and accounts receivable processes ensuring proper recognition of revenue and timely completion of collections

- Set up new accounts and reconcile bank and general ledger accounts

- Verify the payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensure payments are charged to the correct accounts

- Process payroll and prepare payroll reports

- Respond on items beyond formal job responsibilities

Requirements

- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field

- Proven experience as a Sr. Accountant / Accounting Manager with a minimum of 5 years in the field

- Solid understanding of General Ledger management, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation

- Expertise in Journal Entries and Month End Close procedures

- Knowledge in handling Payroll

- Familiarity with WIP - Work In Progress

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
