Project Accountant – Annapolis, MD About the Organization & the Project Accountant Opportunity:
- CFS is partnering with a growing construction company in Annapolis to hire a Project Accountant. Due to continued expansion and an increasing project portfolio, the organization is adding this key role to support their project accounting and operational finance needs.
- This opportunity is ideal for a Project Accountant who thrives in a smaller, collaborative team environment and enjoys hands‑on work in areas such as AIA billing, job cost, WIP reporting, and general ledger activity. The selected individual will work closely with project managers and subcontractors and play a pivotal role in keeping project financials accurate and timely.

- Opportunity to work closely with project managers and field teams
- Exposure to industry‑leading systems including Procore and Sage Timberline
- Perform a wide range of project accounting tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, job cost tracking, and general ledger support.
- Partner with project managers and subcontractors to process and manage subcontractor change orders.
- Reconcile project budgets against projected costs and assist the accounting team with variance review.
- Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Prepare and submit AIA billings and ensure accuracy in project billing documentation.
- Execute month‑end close responsibilities for assigned projects.
- Maintain logs for subcontractor W9s and certificates of insurance (COIs).
- 4+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction
- Experience with subcontractors, AIA billing, and WIP reporting strongly preferred
- Degree in Accounting or related field is a plus, but not required
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Procore experience required
- Experience with Sage Timberline strongly preferred
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment
Schedule:100% in office in Annapolis, MD. Hours are flexible (7:30am-4pm or 8am-4:30pm) Monday-Friday, 40 hours per week.
