Position is posted for Acute Care, which contains Med Surg and Telemetry patients.

A candidate for this position is expected to be proficient in caring for patients in an Acute Care hospital setting. Staffing Ratios are at a 1:6. Meditech experience is preferred.

The selected candidate is expected to work a minimum of 36 hours a week, to include every other weekend.

How you'll contribute

A Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who excels in this role:

* Under the direction of an RN, contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by an RN.

* Performs plan of care interventions, including specimen collection and wound care. May administer medication. Documents patient care given.

* Coordinates and incorporates the patient and family into the plan of care and delivery of care interventions, taking into consideration psychosocial/spiritual/cultural concerns.

* Assists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.

* Monitors, documents, and communicates patient's status and reactions to interventions with RN, physician, patient, and families.

* Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.

What we're looking for

The right person who will as supervised and delegated by a registered nurse, provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

Applicants must be a graduate of a practical school of nursing. Additional requirements include:

* Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse from the Virginia State Board of Nursing or a Compact State.

* AHA BLS certification required.

* Previous experience in acute care hospital setting preferred.
