Overview

Responsibilities

The Wage Part-Time Safety and Security Officer position maintains the security of New College Institute (NCI) facilities and assists staff, students, and visitors. The Safety and Security Officer performs daily security patrols; investigates incidents and prepares reports related to injuries, fire alarms, and complaints; monitors surveillance equipment; inspects entrances and access points; provides exemplary customer service as a representative of NCI;

and enforces all NCI regulations and policies. This position is classified as part-time, does not include benefits, and is limited to an average of no more than 29 hours per week.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience demonstrating the ability to protect and maintain a safe environment for a business or organizational setting.
  • Experience demonstrating the ability to relate to and interact effectively with diverse populations.
  • Ability to make sound judgment decisions, resolve conflicts, and solve problems in a variety of situations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must possess a valid security certification issued by the Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), or the ability to obtain and maintain certification within twelve (12) months of the post-hire date.
Additional Considerations
  • Considerable experience providing security services for a business organization or for a campus environment.
  • CPR & First-Aid Certification desirable
  • Prior military or law enforcement experience.

Special Requirements
  • This position will work evening, weekends and some holidays.
  • Must possess the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., bend, stoop, and stand or walk for extended periods of time and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.
