General PurposeThe Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership who is responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store and for general operations and supervision of the Store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. Responsibilities include opening and closing the Store, supervising Associates, maintaining merchandise presentation, keeping a clean work area, and executing and supervising Company operational processes.
EssentialFunctions Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
- Safety is the number one priority and safe behaviors are practiced in everything we do.
- Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment for everyone, immediately correcting or reporting any unsafe conditions or practices.
- Responsible for security of the building, entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, cash office security, armored carrier pick‑ups and register area.
- Remove clutter and ensure safe, clear egress to emergency exits.
- Responsible for customer safety including accident prevention, reporting and emergency procedures.
- Test all fire alarm systems as scheduled; respond to after‑hours alarms when requested.
- Treat all Customers, Associates and other leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness and professionalism at all times; recognize Associates through Company recognition programs.
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
- Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with the Company Dress Code; ensure all Associates adhere to the Dress Code.
- Keep all areas of the Store clean, well‑maintained and merchandised to standard.
- Responsible for daily trash removal.
- Ensure recovery, sizing and markdowns are completed to Company standards through teaching, assigning tasks and following up per best practice.
- Responsible for receiving merchandise trucks and non‑merchandise inbound deliveries.
- Process all merchandise with a sense of urgency.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all stockrooms; secure and process any back‑stock; merchandize departments including back‑stock.
- Reduce loss due to damage; comply with monthly presentation guidelines; manage floor moves, signing, promotional signing and re‑wraps.
- Understood and comply with the Loss Prevention Awareness Program; maintain a large customer‑service presence on the sales floor.
- Maintain the PVM system.
- Conduct “Code 50” package inspections.
- Execute all Company Best Practices, minimizing steps and touches.
- Ensure Associates execute at Company standards at the Front End.
- Maintain pace, energy and presence at the Front End to expedite customer wait time.
- Train and coach Associates on cash registers, shortage control policies and other front‑end procedures.
