Quality Control / Manager, Quality Engineering, Quality Technician/ Inspector, QA Specialist / Manager
About the Role
Acryl
X is seeking a high-maturity Quality Manager to lead the next phase of our quality journey at our Martinsburg, WV manufacturing facility. This role is not about maintaining the status quo or simply managing inspection—it is about architecting, implementing, and embedding a total quality system that designs quality into the process and steadily reduces reliance on end-of-line detection.
The Martinsburg facility already has strong, capable inspectors and a solid baseline of quality execution. The opportunity—and expectation—for this role is to take the site from mid-maturity to next-level quality performance through pragmatic systems thinking, process ownership, and cultural integration of quality at every level of the organization. This position is ideal for a “dirt-under-the-fingernails” quality leader—someone who has personally worked as an inspector or technician, understands manufacturing reality, and now operates as a quality systems architect who can influence operators, supervisors, plant leadership, and customers with equal credibility.
ResponsibilitiesCore Imperative
- Build and institutionalize a Total Quality Management system where:
- Quality is designed into the process, not inspected in at the end
- Inspectors evolve from gatekeepers into process capability partners
- Defects are prevented through process control, standardization, and ownership
- Quality becomes a shared operational discipline, not a department
Quality Systems Architecture & Maturity Advancement
- Design, implement, and continuously improve a plant-wide quality management system
- Establish and mature process-based quality controls (in-process checks, SPC, capability metrics)
- Define quality ownership at the process and work-cell level
- Build a scalable system that supports future growth, complexity, and customer expectations
- Drive a shift from detection-based quality to prevention-based quality
Operational Quality Leadership
- Lead and develop a team of 6 on-site Quality Inspectors, elevating their role and impact
- Partner closely with Production, Maintenance, and Engineering to embed quality into daily operations
- Establish clear containment, non-conformance, and corrective action disciplines—without creating bureaucracy
- Use data, facts, and root cause—not opinion—to drive decisions
Data, Metrics & Statistical Rigor
- Develop and maintain quality dashboards, scorecards, and trend analysis
- Apply practical statistics and spreadsheet-based analysis to identify systemic issues
- Use data to prioritize improvement efforts and validate effectiveness
- Translate complex quality data into actionable insights for operators and leadership
Communication & Influence
- Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization:
- On the floor with operators and supervisors
- With plant leadership and senior management
- Directly with customers, as needed
- Serve as the quality voice in cross-functional decision-making
- Represent the plant professionally and confidently during customer interactions and audits
Required Experience & Profile
- Significant hands-on experience in manufacturing quality, with demonstrated progression from inspection/technician roles into leadership
- Proven track record of building or materially upgrading a quality system, not just maintaining one
- Experience leading quality in a process-driven manufacturing environment (industry-agnostic)
- Direct people leadership experience preferred
Capability & Maturity Signals
- High systems-thinking capability—understands how process, people, data, and culture interact
- Pragmatic and operationally grounded; avoids academic or over-engineered solutions
- Comfortable challenging existing practices while maintaining credibility and trust
- Able to switch seamlessly between tactical floor-level problem solving and strategic system design
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Technical Skills
- Strong proficiency with spreadsheets, metrics, and basic statistical tools
- Practical understanding of root cause analysis and process control
- Familiarity with containment, corrective action, and continuous improvement methods
What This Role Is Not
- Not a clipboard-driven, audit-only quality role
- Not a purely reactive…
