Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring a WV or compact RN license and expertise in acute surgical settings.

• Work in the Operating Room (OR) of an acute care facility
• Main OR includes 14 suites averaging 28 cases per day with a diverse surgical caseload including neuro spine, total joints, open fractures, general, and ENT cases
• 1:1 nurse-to-patient ratio in the OR
• Utilizes EPIC for electronic charting
• Shift is 8 hours, 5 days per week, with flexible start times between 7:00am-3:30pm and 9:00am-5:30pm
• Weekend and weekday on-call rotation required, with a call response time of 20 minutes
• Holiday call rotation as needed
• Float to outpatient surgery as needed
• Scrubs are provided for OR staff
• No floating outside of surgical units
• Expected to circulate on all surgical cases except open heart and vascular (no vascular at this time)
• Charge nurse present during day shifts and may circulate cases
• Block scheduling is available if it meets unit needs; no self-scheduling for travelers
• Three-shift unit-specific orientation provided prior to start
• Travelers must not have worked at any WVU Medicine facility within the last two years, including prior travelers who completed a year-long assignment
• First-time travelers are not specified; prior travel experience is preferred
• No local travelers accepted within a 50-mile radius
• Pharmacy and respiratory therapy are available 24/7

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Current BLS (AHA), ACLS, and PALS certifications required
• Minimum of 2-3 years of OR experience required, with at least 2-3 prior travel assignments preferred
• Orthopedic and neurosurgical case experience preferred
• Experience using EPIC EMR preferred
• Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility
• Must submit unexpired driver's license for consideration
