The Neuroscience Coordinator will serve as the Stroke Coordinator for the Stroke Center and Spine program. The Neuroscience Coordinator ensures quality, timeliness, and effectiveness of stroke and spine care delivery for the hospital and is responsible for program assessment, planning, performance improvement, education, program accreditation, hospital service utilization and community outreach feedback, & education. Serves as the primary contact and clinical hub for patients, families, and external stakeholders, assisting in guidance and coordination through the continuum of care for each of the designated programs.
The coordinator works in a multidisciplinary role to effectively promote quality in clinical practice for a specific patient population with the goal of providing quality, competitive value, and outstanding service to staff, patients, families, and the community. The coordinator will work with the program medical directors in support of patient care and evidence based clinical practice.
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN).
- Current Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which services will be provided or current multi-state Registered Nurse license through the enhanced Nurse Licensure Compact (eNLC).
- NIHSS certification or obtained within 90 days of hire date.
- Certified in one of the following or obtain within three (3) years of hire date:
- Stroke Certified Registered Nurse (SCRN) through the American Board of Neuroscience Nursing (ABNN).
- Certified Neuroscience Registered Nurse (CNRN) through the American Board of Neuroscience Nursing (ABNN).
- Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) through the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing (BCEN).
- Two (2) years of stroke patient care nursing experience as an RN with emphasis on critical care, emergency care, or neuroscience care.
- Three (3) years of experience in a healthcare related field.
- Master's degree in nursing.
- Two (2) years of nursing management or supervisory role.
