Under indirect supervision, provides independent primary care in a clinical setting to specific population of non-emergency patients. Provides consultation and advice to others as a highly specialized practitioner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with a current West Virginia License, Master of Science in Nursing/Family Nurse Practitioner, and American Nurses Credentialing Certification required.
- Two or more year’s necessary in a medical office setting.
- Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in the area of expertise. Knowledge of patient clinical charts, patient histories, and clinical operations and procedures
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of 1-year prior experience in a medical office setting preferred.
- Adhere to all UPC/WVUH-E and the individual practice policies, procedures and regulations, including attendance, confidentiality, and compliance.
- Performs medical examinations and evaluations, diagnoses, treatment, follow-up and health education.
- Obtain patient histories and develops patient clinical charts, ensuring completeness and accuracy.
- Make decisions regarding data gathering and appropriate management and treatment of patients being seen for the initial evaluation of a problem or the follow-up evaluation of a previously diagnosed and stabilized condition.
- Identify normal and abnormal findings in history, physical examination, and commonly performed laboratory studies.
- Administers a specific health care activity, as appropriate.
- Practices safety, environmental, and/or infection control methods.
- Provides health education to patients, families, and/or community health practitioners and group within the area specialty.
- May participate in planning programs and in developing specific health policies and procedures.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
- Exercises proper stewardship through the appropriate use of supplies, equipment, and time.
- Follows hospital, state and federal guidelines for ensuring safe environment for workers, patients and public. Ensures compliance by staff to hospital, governmental and insurance regulations.
- Communicates and interacts with clients, families, visitors, physicians, departmental and hospital staff and the public in general in a manner that demonstrates professionalism and concern for the individuals' need(s).
- Remains current and responsive to changes in healthcare delivery, standards established by professional organizations, regulatory and accrediting bodies and the needs of the organization.
- Participates in the processes to assess and improve the services provided and compliance with regulatory requirements. Reports results assessment and improvement processes to the appropriate administrative levels.
- Performs other duties as assigned which support the mission and values of the organization
