Responsibilities and QualificationsUnder the guidance and supervision of the primary operative surgeon, assists in perioperative patient care and performs duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:- CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Assistant graduate
- Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) by NBSTSA or Certified Surgical Technician
- BLS certification within 30 days of hire
- 3 years as a Surgical Technician (required)
- 5 years preferred
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform duties of a Surgical Technician II
- Assist in patient positioning, tourniquet placement, urinary catheterization
- Assist with instrument handling, surgical site prep, maintaining hemostasis, tissue retraction, and wound closure
- Maintain sterile field and assist with procedures under surgeon’s direction
- Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and exert force up to 50 lbs.
- Stand and walk for 8-10 hours; may require travel between facilities
Hospital clinical setting.
