Job Overview
Strategic Communication Advisor reports to the Strategic Communication Manager and is a member of the Community Relations Department within the Martinez Refining Company. The role involves managing internal and external communications, media relations, government relations, stakeholder engagement, and crisis management.
Responsibilities- Support the company’s internal and external communications strategy and tactics.
- Assist in managing the company’s website, community and employee newsletters, media relations, and social media.
- Translate technical information into clear, legible communications, adapting style, tone, and word choices to various audiences.
- Serve as a member of the refinery’s Emergency Response Team, interacting with the media and public while supporting community awareness of refinery operations.
- Support philanthropic and community activities.
- Assist with the company’s employee volunteer program.
- Assist with government relations activities and manage the company’s employee advocacy and engagement programs.
- Manage the company’s Community Advisory Panel.
- Represent the company at trade associations, community events, and other public engagements.
- Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, including coworkers, public officials, and local media.
- Participate in the refinery Response Team, as well as Media-Duty and on-call rotation.
- Include occasional evening hours and weekend work responsibilities.
- Candidate must have an active TWIC card or be able to obtain a TWIC card.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Political Science, or related discipline, or the equivalent work experience.
- Five years of public relations experience, such as media relations, community relations, or government relations.
- Experience in refining or the process industry.
The salary range for this position is $88,424.81 - $.
