The Registered Nursing Department at Contra Costa Community College is accepting applications for an adjunct faculty position. This is a temporary assignment that begins Fall 2026.

Description of Position

The teaching assignment will mainly consist of clinical instruction for RN students at various clinical sites. Clinical hours may be day, evening, or weekend shifts as needed. The role also includes transfer‑level composition, supporting the department and college in incorporating a culturally responsive curriculum, and working with learning communities that support African American, Latinx, and other groups.

Responsibilities
  • Providing instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines, and class schedules.
  • Creating and maintaining an environment that emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas, and promotes critical thinking.
  • Evaluating student progress, and grading student work.
  • Meeting with students outside of class as needed.
  • Maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics.
  • Maintaining current knowledge in the subject matter areas.
  • Fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part‑time/temporary faculty member.
  • Maintaining accurate academic records.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.
  • Desired Qualifications
    • One‑year, full‑time experience teaching medical‑surgical nursing theory, skills, and clinical to registered nursing students at the pre‑licensure level.
    • Two years, full‑time recent (within the past 3 years) inpatient bedside nursing experience in Medical/Surgical Nursing.
    • Willingness to support program improvement through collaborative assessment of student learning, staff development, and curriculum development.
    • Experience facilitating student application of theory to practice using clinical judgement measurement models and critical thinking in classroom and clinical settings.
    Education

    Master’s in Nursing OR Bachelor’s in Nursing AND Master’s in Health Education or Health Science OR the equivalent, or the minimum qualifications as set by the Board of Registered Nursing.

    • Current California Registered Nursing License
    • AHA BLS for Health Care Provider’s Card
