Overview
This is a part time position in Nursing. This position is a clinical faculty position in the RN and/or LVN program with assignments in the areas of Fundamentals or Medical/Surgical nursing, Maternal Newborn or Pediatrics. Approval from the Contra Costa Community College Board and Board of Registered Nursing/Board of Vocational Nursing must be received prior to hire. This position requires adaptability and flexibility in assignments.
Contra Costa Community College District is returning to some in-person activities, in a gradual, responsive process that is following all relevant local, state, federal, and CDC guidance related to COVID-19. Applicants are advised that the Contra Costa Community College District has mandated that District employees will need to be vaccinated, test regularly, or obtain a waiver for religious or medical reasons.

ResponsibilitiesEducation:
(1) A Master’s or higher degree from an accredited college or university which includes course work in nursing, education or administration;
Verified course work in nursing if degree other than nursing.
Experience:
(2) At least one year’s experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care in any medical-surgical setting (e.g., acute care, SNF, LTC, home health, outpatient).
Teaching
Experience:
(3) Completion of at least one year’s experience teaching registered nursing or post-baccalaureate courses related to nursing or a course that includes practice in teaching nursing.
Clinical Competence:
(4) Demonstrate “clinical competence” as defined by the Board of Registered Nursing. Definition found in Section 1420 as follows: “Clinical Competency” means that a nursing program faculty member possesses and exercises the degree of learning, skill, care and experience ordinarily possessed and exercised by a staff level registered nurses on the clinical unit to which the instructor is assigned”.
Licensure:
(5) Hold a current, valid license to practice as a registered nurse in California.
Desirable
Qualifications:
Competency with EPIC documentation software
1. Experience in teaching nursing skills as well as experience teaching psychiatric nursing clinical to registered nursing students at the pre-licensure or post-licensure level.
2. Experience developing, implementing, and evaluating curriculum in nursing and/or formal teaching presentations.
3. Experience utilizing a variety of teaching strategies to foster critical thinking and application of theory to practice.
4. Experience in facilitating student application of theory to practice by use of the nursing process and critical thinking in both classroom and clinical settings.
