Join Our Mission to Transform Lives. DVC invites candidates for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor in Ethnic Studies with an emphasis in Africana Studies, effective August 2026.
OverviewRepresenting the core disciplines of Ethnic Studies, the successful applicant will serve as a faculty member, engaging in teaching, scholarship, community‑engaged research, and service that supports DVC’s equity mission.
Responsibilities- Design, teach, and assess introductory and upper‑level courses in Africana Studies and Comparative Ethnic Studies, employing anti‑racist pedagogy.
- Develop new transferable courses and lead curriculum review initiatives.
- Active participation in departmental, college, and community‑engaged scholarship.
- Service to DVC through committees, professional development, and shared governance.
- Doctoral or terminal degree in Africana Studies, Ethnic Studies, or related field; M.A./M.S. acceptable for equivalency.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching to diverse college students, with anti‑racist practices.
- Strong record of scholarship in Africana Studies, Comparative Ethnic Studies, or related disciplines.
- Commitment to community engagement and equity in higher education.
