Huck’s Market Store Manager

Job Purpose

Every store manager is responsible for the proper and efficient operation of the store within company policy and local laws in a manner that ensures profitability, while maintaining the highest level of customer service.

Job Duties And Responsibilities
  • Customer Service
    • Gives all customers prompt and courteous service adhering to Best In Class standards
    • Ensures store appearance reflects company expectations and standards
    • Ensures the store is open and ready for business during all hours
    • Handles customer conflicts using our MAKE IT RIGHT method
  • Increase profits
    • Utilize all tools and departments to execute programs and policies
    • Manage expenses and sales to budget (or better)
    • Engage in neighborhood marketing through community involvement
    • Participate in suggestive selling contests by motivating Sales Associates
  • General Management
    • Commit to Vision/Mission Statement (T.H.A.N.K.S.)
    • Recruit talented candidates for the Company
    • Schedule associates to meet business demands per labor planner program
    • Communicate effectively with store associates, Division Manager, and corporate office
    • Follows all federal, state and local laws and ordinances
    • Provide a role model of conduct for other associates
    • Control variable expenses; ensure adherence to uniform policy and customer service standards
    • Perform Store Manager checklists daily; ensure Sales Associate checklists are completed each shift
    • Post schedules two weeks in advance, per policy
  • Accounting
    • Ensure all paperwork is done accurately and timely
    • Maintain inventory and cash loss within company guidelines
    • Conduct inventories, cash audits, cigarette counts, cost and supply audits as directed
    • Take store deposits to the bank daily, including weekends
    • Maintain sufficient change for operating hours
    • Send required documents to the store analysts
  • Human Resources
    • Treat all associates with dignity and respect; apply proper personnel management techniques
    • Ensure that all associates receive breaks
    • Inform division manager of personnel issues affecting store performance
    • Support training programs; ensure associates are trained on duties
    • Record hours worked accurately and comply with the no work off the clock policy
    • Provide a harassment-free environment; comply with Responsible Retailing policy
    • Work with associates on ongoing training and development
    • Record hours worked in the workstation
  • Security
    • Follow associate cash handling procedures
    • Maintain working surveillance equipment
    • Ensure a safe shopping and working environment
    • Protect company assets, including cash and merchandise
    • Follow vendor check-in procedures per policy
    • Keep cash in safe, cash register, or bank
  • Merchandising
    • Post promotional signs on the assigned dates
    • Use current plan-o-grams
    • Communicate with the District Manager for special needs or requests
    • Ensure merchandise orders prevent out-of-stocks and maintain inventory
    • Work with Direct Store Delivery vendors to maintain stock
    • Monitor inventory levels and prevent out of stocks
    • Keep food service areas clean and follow sanitation procedures
  • Maintenance
    • Keep floors clean and maintained
    • Report maintenance problems to the Huck’s Solution Center
    • Ensure equipment is in working order with proper procedures
  • Safety
    • Ensure ladders are used properly; follow lifting procedures
    • Use wet floor signs and floor dryers as required
    • Promptly report accidents and injuries to District Manager and corporate office
    • Ensure EPA regulations and UST procedures are met
