Responsibilities
  • Administer prescribed medications, orally and by injections.
  • Provide treatments to residents per physician orders.
  • Observe residents' reactions to medications and treatments.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage of medications and controlled substances.
  • Observe, record, and report all services provided.
  • Report changes in residents’ condition to supervisor and attending physician.
  • Sign off that medication and treatments were given/provided, as required by policy.
  • Maintain resident’s medical record by documentation, as required by policy.
  • Provide education to residents and families regarding care.
  • Assist in planning, supervising, and instructing CNAs; assign daily work assignments to ensure positive outcomes for residents.
  • Implement and maintain policies and procedures.
  • Ensure that safe work practices and infection control techniques are utilized.
Qualifications
  • Current license by the State Board of Nursing, as an RN or LPN.
  • Ability to lead and motivate subordinates.
  • Ability to perform a variety of duties characterized by frequent change; work schedule will change daily.
  • Capable of working closely with residents, physicians, and staff.
  • Capable of working to nursing standards.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills; interested in performing a service.
