Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Telemetry/IMC position at a Level II Trauma facility, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience with post-procedural cath lab and cardiac surgical patients.
Responsibilities- Evening shift position, 12-hour shifts from 1100–2330, in an Intermediate Care/Telemetry unit specializing in cardiac medical and surgical patients
- 29-bed unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4 on days through 2300, and 1:5–6 on nights after 2300
- Common patient diagnoses include post-cath lab procedures (stent, pacemaker, ICD, Watchman, mitral clip, TAVR), post-cardiac surgery (CABG, valve replacements), AFib, chest pain, CHF, arrhythmias, syncope, and bradycardia requiring temporary pacemaker
- RNs are required to titrate drips including Nitroglycerin, Heparin, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, Lasix, Bumex, and Dobutamine (no vasopressors)
- A 24/7 central telemetry unit monitors all non-critical care patients and reads strips — RNs are not required to read their own telemetry strips
- Nurse aides are available on the unit (1:10 on days, 1:10–12 on evenings, 1:15+ after 2300)
- Respiratory Therapy is available 24/7 for nebulizers, inhalers, CPAP, BiPAP, and Vapotherm; RNs are responsible for incentive spirometry
- EMR is Cerner (transitioning to Epic)
- Every other weekend and holiday required
- Floating to other units as needed based on census
- No on-call or standby requirement outside of voluntary extra shifts
- 13-week contract
- Orientation consists of 1 shift for HR onboarding and 1 shift on the unit
- No self-scheduling; block scheduling is used based on unit needs
- Friday/Saturday/Sunday scheduling option is available
- Charge RN takes a modified patient assignment
- No scrub color requirement; scrubs are not provided
- Candidates who previously worked at this health system as permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their consideration date, and hospital approval is required
- Candidates living within 80 miles of the facility are considered local and may be subject to a reduced travel pay rate
- Active WI or Compact RN license required by start date
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Experience with post-procedural cath lab patients required
- Experience managing TR band compression devices and chest pain required
- Experience with post-cardiac surgical patients required
- 2 professional references required for consideration: 1 supervisor reference within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 peer or supervisor reference within the last 3 years of relevant experience
