Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN with at least 1 year of recent operating room experience and current BLS and ACLS certifications for a Level 2 trauma acute care setting.

Responsibilities
  • Work in a 16-suite Operating Room within an acute care hospital, Level 2 trauma center
  • Average 28 cases per day with a wide range of surgical specialties including General, GYN, Urology, Peripheral Vascular, Ortho, Neuro, ENT, Oral, Plastics, and Bariatrics
  • Must be able to circulate for cases such as bowel resections, lap cases, da Vinci Xi procedures, total joints (including MAKO robot), spine fusions, craniotomies, and more
  • Scrubbing is not required for RNs
  • EMR system is Cerner, transitioning to Epic
  • Primarily day shifts  or 1730 or 1930) with one week of PM shifts ) every 5 weeks; night shift possible after experience at the facility
  • On-call required: 1-2 nights per week and 1 weekend every 5-6 weeks, plus at least one holiday per year
  • Call response time is 30-45 minutes depending on the call team
  • Floating may be required to the Outpatient Surgery Center across campus
  • Navy blue scrubs are provided at no cost
  • Team-oriented environment with charge RN and OR techs always present
  • 2-3 days of comprehensive orientation and onboarding, plus 1-2 weeks focused on OR flow and unfamiliar case types
  • All staff must clock in and out on site
  • Floating is limited to the Outpatient Surgery Center when required
  • Must cover at least one major holiday per year as part of the call rotation
  • Local candidates (within 80 miles) are accepted at a reduced rate
Requirements
  • Active WI or Compact RN license required by start date
  • Current BLS and ACLS (AHA) certifications required
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Operating Room RN experience
  • Experience circulating a broad range of surgical specialties is required
  • Ability to choose between 8-hour and 10-hour shifts
  • Must provide two professional references: one supervisor from the past 12 months and one supervisor or peer from specialty within the past 3 years
  • Former permanent staff must have a work gap of at least 6 months and require facility approval
