JOB SUMMARY
The Neurosurgery Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner is a skilled medical provider on the surgical care team and is qualified both academically and clinically, to assist with a variety of procedures, and provide diagnostic and therapeutic neurosurgical services to patients in the outpatient, inpatient, ambulatory, trauma, and emergency settings. The Neurosurgery PA/NP is required to practice within their professional scope, license, and granted privileges based on one’s personal education, training, and experience.
The Neurosurgery PA/NP works collaboratively with a variety of health care personnel, including physicians, nursing staff, case managers, and other health care disciplines utilizing a team approach to patient care.
For positions requiring education beyond a high school diploma or equivalent, educational qualifications must be from an institution whose accreditation is recognized by the Council for Higher Education and Accreditation.

Required:
Bachelors or Masters degree in Physician Assistant studies from an accredited PA Program or Nurse Practitioner Certification awarded by a national certifying body.

Preferred/Optional: One year in neurological surgery, neurology, or surgical specialty.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSESThe following licensure(s), certification(s), registration(s), etc., are required for this position. Licenses with restrictions are subject to review to determine if restrictions are substantially related to the position.

Required:
- Active PA/NP license to practice in the practicing state of employment.
- Active PA/NP board certification.
- If NP - Current State of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or Nurse Compact License
- Active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification AND Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within 3 months of hire.
- Affiliated staff privileges at associated hospital may be required (varies by department/location).
Preferred/Optional: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
