Job SummaryThe Medication Safety Officer coordinates the medication safety program across Marshfield Clinic Health System, partnering with regional Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committees, the Medication Safety Committee, the Risk Committee, and the Quality Cabinet. This role leads the standardization of medication safety initiatives, builds a culture of medication safety across the enterprise, and ensures the quality and safety of medication administration by all employees at all facilities.
Responsibilities- Coordinate enterprise-wide medication safety initiatives and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Partner with Pharmacy, Therapeutics, and Risk Committees to develop and enforce medication safety protocols.
- Lead data collection, analysis, and reporting on medication safety metrics.
- Educate staff on best practices and support continuous quality improvement in medication administration.
- Advise leadership on medication safety strategy, risk mitigation, and resource allocation.
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm
D) degree from an accredited institution. - Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
- Minimum two years of experience in medication safety or pharmacy practice; ASHP accredited residency is preferred.
- License in good standing with the State Board of Pharmacy in the state(s) of practice.
