The G.I. Endoscopy Technician, Advanced allows individuals the opportunity for on‑the‑job education and training to broaden their knowledge of gastroenterology. Under supervision, the technician assists with patient care in the endoscopy procedure room by performing technical and other delegated duties. Responsibilities include assisting with therapeutic procedures, completing reprocessing of procedural instruments, supplies maintenance, room setup and tear down, and active involvement in training peers.
Technical duties also include assistance with complex Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and interventional endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) procedures. The technician will complete educational training and exams and will be assigned a designated mentor(s) to develop the skills necessary to perform the essential functions of the role within the scope of the assignment.
Minimum
Required:
Six months experience in an Advanced GI role obtained on the job or prior to hire. Demonstrate proficiency with gastroenterology terminology and completion of non‑complex therapeutic procedures, advanced GI procedures, and reprocessing procedures related to gastroenterology within applicable departments.
Preferred/Optional:
Certificate or diploma in a medical related field or gastroenterology experience.
Minimum
Required:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
Preferred/Optional:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.
