Assistant Activities Director

This position is a 1.0 FTE combined Assistant Activities Director/Teacher(Computer Science or Tech Ed).

Position Summary

The Assistant Activities Director supports the planning, coordination, supervision, and evaluation of district athletic and extracurricular programs, with primary responsibility for middle school athletics and activities. This role works closely with the Activities Director and school administrators to ensure programs are well organized, compliant, and provide a positive experience for students, staff, and the community.

Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in education, athletic administration, or related field
  • Wisconsin DPI teaching license required. Administrator license preferred
  • Experience with extracurricular programming, athletics, supervision, or facility/event management
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills

Reports to:

Activities Director/Associate Principal, Middle School Principal, High School Principal

Supervises:
Middle School coaching staff and extracurricular programs

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Program Leadership
    • Coordinate and support all middle school athletic programs and activities
    • Provide leadership, supervision, and evaluation for middle school coaching staff
    • Assist with hiring and renewal of middle school coaches in accordance with district policy
    • Support the hiring process for high school coaches as needed
    • Promote a culture of sportsmanship, student development, and positive school representation
  • Event & Program Operations
    • Develop and maintain the middle school activities calendar
    • Schedule athletic facilities and fields for practices and competitions
    • Coordinate officials, event workers, and supervision for middle school events
    • Assist with supervision of high school athletic events, including evenings and weekends
    • Manage cancellations or rescheduling of events when necessary
  • Budget & Resources
    • Develop and manage the middle school athletics budget
    • Oversee equipment, supplies, and uniform inventory and replacement cycles
    • Collaborate with the Facilities Supervisor on athletic facility use, safety, and maintenance planning
  • Student Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure student-athletes meet eligibility requirements including physicals, permissions, and insurance documentation
    • Communicate and implement emergency procedures and medical protocols at events
    • Ensure appropriate supervision of student participants at all activities
    • Address and support resolution of discipline issues involving student-athletes
  • Transportation
    • Coordinate transportation for athletic teams and activities
    • Communicate district transportation procedures and expectations to coaching staff
  • Communication & Community Engagement
    • Facilitate communication with athletes, parents, and coaches
    • Support development and maintenance of the activities handbook and athletic agreements
    • Represent the district at middle school athletic meetings and regional events
    • Promote positive relationships with visiting teams, officials, and community members
  • Other Duties
    • Attend and participate in school events, meetings, and conferences as required.
    • Maintain regular, punctual attendance.
    • Perform additional duties as assigned by school administration.

    • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
    • Occasional lifting, carrying, or pushing of materials and classroom equipment.
    • Ability to communicate effectively in person, via phone, and through electronic means.
    • Work primarily in a school setting, indoor/outdoor athletic facilities, and occasional off-site event venues
Terms of Employment
  • Contract Length: 210 days per school year.
  • Evaluation:
    Performance evaluations will be conducted by the Building Principal or Associate Principal/Activities Director in accordance with Hudson School District Board of Education policies.
