Position OverviewWe are seeking a skilled and results‑driven Landscape / Construction Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying bidding opportunities, preparing accurate estimates, and contributing to the growth of our project backlog and future revenue. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience in landscape, site work, and general construction estimating and be comfortable collaborating with both internal teams and external partners.
Key Responsibilities- Identify and pursue bidding opportunities to drive company growth
- Review and interpret project plans, drawings, and specifications to prepare detailed quantity take‑offs and material price estimates
- Develop comprehensive project cost summaries and present results and recommendations to internal teams and clients
- Communicate estimates to potential clients and address questions regarding scope, pricing, and assumptions
- Collaborate with LJM team members, landscape architects, clients, general contractors, and subcontractors to adjust and finalize cost estimates
- Track actual project costs against estimates to assess cost effectiveness
- Recommend improvements to estimating procedures, integrating historical data and lessons learned into future bids
- Perform other related duties as required
- Minimum 3 years of estimating experience in landscape construction, site work, or general construction
- Bachelor's degree in a related field such as Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or similar (preferred)
- Proficiency in CAD and other landscape or construction design software
- Experience with estimating tools like Bluebeam and RSMeans (or similar)
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Landscape construction and site work
- Asphalt paving, concrete, masonry, and fencing
- General building techniques and basic engineering concepts
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow blueprints, site plans, and technical documents
- Familiarity with building codes, laws, and regulations
- Understanding of construction scheduling, bidding, and estimating best practices
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment
