OverviewThe Transportation Education Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, instruction, and ongoing development of all non-credit transportation-related programs offered through Business and Community Solutions. This includes existing courses such as Motorcycle and Bus Driver training, as well as the development and launch of a new Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) program. This position will play a key role in building partnerships, ensuring program compliance, maintaining quality instruction, and supporting student success across all transportation programs.
Responsibilities- Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of a new CDL training program, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Serve as the primary CDL instructor, providing classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction in alignment with Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) standards. Maintain current knowledge of industry trends, safety standards, and licensing requirements. Ensure compliance with ELDT, FMCSA, MSF, and DOT rules and regulations.
- Coordinate scheduling, instructor assignments, and recordkeeping for all transportation-related courses, including Motorcycle and Bus Driver education. Assist in marketing efforts to promote transportation programs and recruit students. Recruit, train, and support instructors for transportation programs. Collaborate with employers, workforce partners, and internal departments to promote and expand transportation training opportunities.
- Manage transportation budget. Develop and implement budget models and pricing for courses and programs. Prepare and maintain accurate reporting for licenses and related activities (e.g., motorcycle, CDL Class A and
B). - Maintain accurate inventories of equipment and supplies; submit requisitions for materials as needed. Promptly report and follow up on needed repairs for labs, classrooms, and equipment. Stay current with industry and educational trends, integrating updates into curriculum, instructional practices, and equipment to ensure program relevance and excellence.
- Meet all assigned classes and office commitments as scheduled. Serve actively on any committee to which you are appointed. Maintain regular and consistent attendance ntain professional appearance of office and laboratory areas. Be willing to flex schedule as needed.
- Work and communicate professionally with others in a timely manner. Perform in a manner which benefits student learning. Support the overall success of the District by performing other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or equivalent, Commercial CDL Class A required with endorsements a plus, 5 years of recent driving experience. An acceptable driving record with manual transmission experience and proficient backing ability.
AbilitiesKnowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Department of Transportation, and Motorcycle Safety Foundation rules and regulations. Ability to manage transportation budget.
Base Wage$44,825 - $59,767 Annually - actual salary will be based on experience and education.
