Traffic Marshall

Overview

A Construction Traffic Marshal plays a vital role in maintaining safety, efficiency, and clear communication on busy construction sites. This position ensures the safe movement of vehicles, plant, and pedestrians, supports site logistics, and upholds high standards of health and safety compliance. The role is ideal for someone who is alert, confident in giving direction, and committed to creating a safe working environment.

• Managing vehicle movements: directing site traffic to ensure safe entry, exit, and manoeuvring.
• Coordinating deliveries: guiding delivery drivers and ensuring materials are unloaded in designated areas.
• Maintaining pedestrian safety: monitoring walkways and preventing unauthorised access to restricted zones.
• Communicating with site teams: using radios or hand signals to relay clear instructions.
• Monitoring site access points: checking credentials and ensuring compliance with site rules.
• Supporting site logistics: assisting with general traffic flow and operational coordination.
• Responding to hazards: identifying risks and taking immediate action to prevent accidents.
• Keeping accurate records: logging vehicle movements and reporting safety concerns.

• Valid Traffic Marshal/Vehicle Banksman certification
• CSCS Card
• Strong understanding of site safety protocols
• Ability to give clear verbal and hand‑signal instructions
• Good situational awareness and attention to detail
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work outdoors in all weather
• Experience working on construction or civil engineering sites
• Knowledge of site logistics operations
• First Aid training
• Ability to use two‑way radios effectively
