The Mechanic Coordinator serves as the lead for the district maintenance team, supporting both Repair & Maintenance (R&M) procurement and operational readiness. This role is responsible for supervising, mentoring, and developing maintenance technicians while ensuring adherence to company standards, policies, and preventative maintenance schedules. The Mechanic Coordinator partners closely with Operations and the District Manager to plan and execute daily maintenance activities that maximize asset availability and performance.
Key Responsibilities Team Leadership & Support- Lead, coach, and mentor maintenance technicians, providing daily supervision and on-the-job training.
- Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Monitor performance and provide feedback to support technician development.
- Assist with technician scheduling and workflow planning to meet operational demands.
- Collaborate with the District Manager and operations team to align maintenance schedules with job requirements.
- Ensure accurate tracking of unit hours and compliance with preventative maintenance schedules.
- Oversee the execution of routine and corrective maintenance for Class 8 and off-highway equipment.
- Facilitate third-party repairs as needed and ensure proper documentation.
- Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, company HS&E standards, and OEM guidelines.
- Review, implement, and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technical standards.
- Conduct inspections, troubleshoot issues, and support root cause analysis for equipment failures.
- Work on the shop floor as needed to maintain quality control and provide hands-on support.
- Manage parts inventory to ensure adequate supply and minimize downtime.
- Work with procurement teams to source and track R&M parts.
- Monitor part usage and forecast future needs based on maintenance schedules.
- Maintain accurate equipment records and service documentation.
- Track maintenance activity and technician hours, and generate maintenance reports.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support operational and organizational goals.
- Associate degree or technical training preferred.
- 5+ years of oilfield service or heavy equipment maintenance experience.
- Supervisory or lead technician experience required.
- Knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), PPE, and emergency response procedures.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in diagnostics and troubleshooting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and maintenance tracking systems.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and interpersonal skills.
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
- Analytical problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work overtime or irregular hours as needed.
- Exposure to moving machinery, outdoor weather, diesel fumes, chemicals, and moderate to loud noise.
- Must be able to lift up to 65 lbs.
- Frequent walking, standing, bending, reaching; occasional climbing, kneeling, or crawling.
- Requires use of respirators, safety gear, and visual precision for various tasks.
- Must be able to clearly communicate in team meetings and field settings.
