Job Description

Blue Oval Battery Park Michigan is seeking highly motivated and detail‑oriented Production Operator Quality personnel to join our cutting‑edge battery cell manufacturing facility in Marshall, MI. This critical role is responsible for ensuring manufactured products meet established quality standards and specifications, maintaining the integrity of our products throughout the production process.

Responsibilities
  • Implement and promote a strong quality culture within the plant. Perform visual, dimensional, and functional inspections of raw materials, in‑process components, and finished battery cells throughout the manufacturing process, monitor and enforce quality gates, conduct final product inspections, and verify outgoing quality by auditing finished goods before shipment.
  • Conduct various tests according to established procedures to verify product performance and compliance with specifications, including chemical residue testing, tensile strength testing, contamination testing, metallographic analysis and other specialized tests. Operate and maintain testing equipment such as CT scans, X‑ray imaging, CMMs, tensile testing machines, and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) equipment.
  • Accurately record inspection and test data, documenting deviations and defects, maintain detailed logs and reports. Communicate findings to supervisors, engineers, and production personnel.
  • Assist in investigation of root causes of defects and implement corrective actions. Proactively identify opportunities for improvement and participate in continuous improvement initiatives and quality audits.
  • Adhere to established quality control procedures and standards, including ISO 9001, IATF
    16949, and other relevant industry systems. Support and conduct internal and external audits across multiple functions and groups.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, specifications, and work instructions. Ensure measurement and testing equipment is calibrated and maintained.
  • Work closely with production and engineering teams to address and resolve quality issues, ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality regulations, and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Support department training management, promote implementation of the quality training plan, and provide technical training and testing for new employees with the QA and PRD departments.
Qualifications
  • Education:

    High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience:

    At least 2 years of experience in a quality control role within manufacturing; preferred experience in a fast‑moving manufacturing environment.
  • Technical

    Skills:
    • Proficiency with measuring tools and testing equipment (Calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMM, CT, X‑Ray, tensile testers, TGA).
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, specifications, work instructions.
    • Knowledge of troubleshooting tools such as Six Sigma, statistical process control, and 5‑Why.
    • Familiarity with ISO
      9001, IATF
      16949 standards, or other relevant quality management systems.
    • Proficiency in office software for data processing and reporting.
    • Strong attention to detail; willingness to work in a clean‑room or controlled environment.
    • Preferred:
      Experience with metallography, CT, TGA, chemical analysis.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills (written and verbal).
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Prioritization, time‑management, meet deadlines in fast‑paced environment.
    • High sense of responsibility, professionalism, and teamwork; rigorous, careful, honest, self‑disciplined personality.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods; work on computer and within plant; visual acuity sufficient to read fine print.
  • Preferred:
    • Technical certification or associate or bachelor’s degree in related field.
