Job SummaryProvides coordination of the Plant Operations Tech staff and contracted personnel to maintain all of Oaklawn Hospital Buildings. Plant Operations Lead Tech is responsible for helping with the daily operation of the plant which includes maintenance and repair to equipment and facility systems such as Boilers, Water Softners, R/O water system, Medical Gases, HVAC, Fire Suppression, etc. Position requires knowledge of overall plant operations, the ability to troubleshoot, work through mechanical issues, along with the ability to delegate the workload in a quick and effective manner.
Position requires working with Plant Operations Director to help with hiring, training, input into employee Tech evaluations and competency assessments for employees.
- Consistently uses an outward mindset and puts forth exemplary effort in accomplishing his/her goals and objectives in a manner that helps others to achieve their goals and objectives.
- Follows purchasing and procurement guidelines. Demonstrates a basic understanding of the organization’s budget process.
- Understands existing, and determine applicable, safety and health procedures and ensures their proper application for work processes.
- Trains Tech I and II in proper safety methods.
- Contributes to day-to-day direction to team members.
- Recognizes and requests equipment and/or materials that are needed to do the job. Listens to and considers the ideas of team members; shares relevant or important information with the team; develops skills or knowledge; monitors and provides feedback on employee progress; and looks for opportunities for employees to put new knowledge, understanding, or skill to practical use on the job. Considers competency level of current staff and coordinates work accordingly.
- Contributes to the interview process. Orients new or recently promoted staff to work unit. Monitors and encourages employee career development. Takes initial corrective actions with employees; works with Plant Operations Director to provide improvement plans for employees who are not meeting expectations.
- Coordinates standard, day-to-day construction and repair activities according to established guidelines within assigned technical area.
- Directly performs a variety of trades related tasks/functions. These tasks/functions may involve related or varying processes to test, renovate, overhaul, replace, and perform preventive maintenance on standard building systems.
18 years of age and two (2) years of related experience or a commensurate combination of education and experience. Advanced level training and/or certification at the Tradesman level.
Preferred QualificationsCertification at the Tradesman Level.
Knowledge, Skills & AbilityMust have effective interpersonal skills in all areas of communication with strong oral communication skills. Must be able to work independently and be capable of solving problems using good judgment and work in a self-directed and collaborative environment. Must have the ability to operate a personnel computer and possess basic math skills. Ability to work in confined space, and heights.
Working ConditionsMay occasionally be exposed to infectious diseases and hazardous materials and various degrees of weather.
Physical RequirementsConstantly stand, walk, reach, see/visual acuity, handle/grasp/feel, talk/hear, taste/smell. Frequently push/pull, bend/twist, stoop/kneel/crouch lift/carry 1 to 25 lbs. Occasionally lift/carry 25 to 50+ lbs.
