Surgical Technologist - CSFAAssignment Duration

This is a 13-week contract position.

Schedule

Days 10 hours, 4x10 shift, M,T,TH,F, plus call rotation including weekly and weekends.

Job Description

The Surgical Technologist - CSFA provides peri-operative care of surgical patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse. This role involves preparing the physical environment before patient arrival and assisting the RN with developing a plan of care. Adhering to safety procedures that ensure patient and employee safety is critical.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the surgical team during operative procedures, utilizing instruments and medical devices.
  • Provide exposure, handle and/or cut tissue, and ensure hemostasis and sutures are applied.
  • Follow infection prevention standards and utilize technology according to safety measures.
  • Engage in self-assessment, peer review, and complete mandatory education and competency assessments.
  • Participate in unit-based performance improvement activities and support change in practice.
  • Arrange and inventory sterile setup for operations and pass items as needed to the operating team.
  • Assist in preparing and moving patients, as well as cleaning the OR theater.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
  • 2 years of CSFA experience (required).
  • Graduate from an accredited Surgical Technologist program and certification as a Surgical First Assistant (required).
