At Ochsner, whether you work with patients every day or support those who do, you are making a difference. This RN assignment is typically 8 weeks long and you will lead the provision of patient care using the Nursing Process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses and Scope & Standards of Practice.
EducationRequired – Registered Nurse Diploma.
Preferred – Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing.
Work ExperienceRequired – 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse.
Certifications- Current RN License in the state of practice
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification (within 30 days of hire)
- Preferred - Certification in clinical specialty area

- Effectively use the Nursing Process in the delivery of patient care.
- Assess learning needs and implement teaching strategies appropriate for the diverse needs of the patient, family and other groups or disciplines.
- Communicate, delegate and manage nursing team resources (human and fiscal) properly and serve as a leader and partner on the Interdisciplinary Team.
- Utilize data, information and knowledge to evaluate and promote change in order to achieve optimal outcomes.
- Embrace concepts and behaviors that enhance customer satisfaction and employee morale and improve the profession of nursing.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
The assignment requires heavy work involving the exertion of 50 to 100 pounds occasionally, 25 to 50 pounds frequently, and 10 to 20 pounds constantly. Duties performed routinely require exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue and communicable diseases. There is an occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or waste within the environment.
