RN - Oncology Clinic

Overview

RN Clinic job posting with duties in patient care under supervision, including support to medical providers and delivery of care within the patient care assignment framework.

• Participates in patient care under the supervision of the manager/director and in collaboration with the healthcare team.
• Measures and records vital signs according to departmental policy and patient age; reports abnormal values to the medical provider.
• Assists with clinic flow: patient arrival, procedures, scheduling follow-ups, and patient exit from clinic.
• Prepares patients for examination, treatment, and procedures; observes for signs of abuse/neglect and reports per policy.
• Recognizes emergencies and responds per organizational policy and procedure.
• Performs non-complex procedures, prepares equipment, tests equipment for safety, and cleans/disinfects equipment per hospital policy.
• Administers prescribed medications and/or vaccinations as ordered; collects and handles specimens for point-of-care testing as needed.
• May perform point-of-care testing per Laboratory guidelines; maintains medication inventory and proper disposal of expired medications.
• Maintains storage conditions for medications and vaccines; documents tasks in the patient medical record per guidelines.
• Maintains patient privacy and uses the electronic medical record to access results, records, and schedule follow-ups.
• Assists with safety, infection control, quality improvement, and regulatory standards; ensures patient safety and a clean clinic environment.
• Gathers clinical documentation for review by the medical provider; may operate clinic equipment and obtain medical records from outside facilities.
• Answers telephone calls and routes them promptly.

• Valid license or temporary permit to practice professional nursing in Louisiana.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support Health Care Provider.
