RN - Neurology Clinic

Overview

RN - Neurology Clinic role at LCMC Health. Provides appropriate medical care and counseling to patients and supports the medical provider within the patient care assignment framework.

• Participate in patient care under the supervision of the clinic manager/director and in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team.
• Measure and record vital signs according to departmental policy and patient age; identify abnormal values and report findings to the medical provider.
• Assist with clinic flow, including arrival, procedures, scheduling new and follow-up appointments, and facilitating patient exit from the clinic.
• Prepare patients for examinations, treatments, and procedures.
• Observe for signs of abuse/neglect and report immediately per policy; recognize emergencies and respond per organizational policy.
• Perform non-complex procedures within clinic policy and documented competency; provide comfort care considering age and special needs.
• Prepare equipment, test equipment for safety, and maintain cleanliness and disinfection per hospital policy.
• Administer prescribed medications and/or vaccinations as ordered and document accordingly.
• Collect, prepare, and secure specimens for point-of-care testing; may perform point-of-care testing per guidelines.
• Maintain medication inventory, dispose of expired medications, and ensure safe storage of medications and vaccines.
• Document clinical tasks, testing, and procedures in the patient medical record according to guidelines; protect patient privacy and navigate the EMR for results, records, and scheduling.
• Assist with clinic operations by retrieving medical records, scanning outside correspondence, answering phones, and directing inquiries as needed.
• Participate in safety, infection control, quality improvement, and regulatory standards; ensure patient safety during visits and maintain a clean clinic environment.
• Support the clinic preparation process by gathering clinical documentation for review and operating devices like computers, printers, scanners, and fax machines.

• Valid license or temporary permit to practice professional nursing in Louisiana.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support Health Care Provider certification.
