The Lighting Technician maintains and repairs lighting equipment and systems, and is part of our Maintenance department. Duties and Responsibilities- Maintain and repair lighting equipment and systems.
- Investigate lighting problems, accurately determine operational status of lighting equipment and take appropriate action to restore system operation.
- Perform repairs to lighting distribution panels, breakers and/or fuse panels, switches, interior and exterior lighting fixtures, and ballasts.
- Perform maintenance of lighting systems in accordance with established schedules and standards.
- Use the tools and instruments appropriate to the electrician’s craft for the repair, testing, and modification of lighting equipment.
- Read, interpret, and use electrical blueprints, specifications, manufacturer’s manuals, catalogs, and other technical literature.
- Ordering and receiving of materials.
- Supervise and coordinate the tasks of student workers.
- Prepare and maintain logs and records for lighting equipment and systems.
- Keep equipment locations and shop areas clean and orderly.
Skills and Abilities
A high school diploma is required.
Must possess a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
Three years of maintenance experience in lighting systems or general maintenance is required.
Preferred Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
Certification in electrical maintenance from a technical school is desired.
