The Central Sterile Technician collects, decontaminates, stores and distributes all reusable supplies and patient care equipment in the hospital.
Essential Functions- Provides inspection, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments and other patient care equipment in accordance with processing guidelines, AAMI, AORN, TJC, and OSHA requirements.
- Operates departmental equipment daily according to manufacturer instructions with emphasis on safety.
- Provides customer service to all departments with a focus on patient needs.
- Processes and documents all sterile supplies and equipment daily using chemical, biological and mechanical indicators to verify sterility in accordance with manufacturer instructions and hospital policy.
- Monitors and performs antimicrobial and disinfection solutions testing according to manufacturer instructions and documentation daily.
Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Years of relevant experience may be substituted for required education.
Required Skills: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Licenses: Valid driver's license in State of Michigan.
