Position: Practice Manager, Urology Services 1.0DV (7467-1459)

Overview

Directs functions and activities of multiple Clinics.

Responsibilities
  • Maintains established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, performance improvement program, safety, environment of care, management of information, and infection control standards.
  • S elects, trains/orients, and assigns department staff (either directly or through subordinates) at each Clinic. Develops standards of performance, evaluates performance, and initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions.
  • Develops department goals and objectives for each Clinic, and establishes and implements policies and procedures for department operations.
  • Develops and recommends departmental operating budgets and ensures that departments operate within budget.
  • Directs the preparation and maintenance of department reports for each Clinic.

    Prepares periodic reports for senior management, as required.
  • Develops and implements the performance improvement program for each Clinic.
  • Assures compliance with federal and state law and accrediting and licensing agencies as appropriate to department.
  • Integrates departmental services with the organization’s primary functions and coordinates with other department/services in a manner which fosters a collaborative environment for teamwork within the department and with other departments/services.
  • Ensures and role models the delivery of excellent customer service.
  • Initiates or leads strategic development activities for assigned clinics.
  • Develops and implements the utilization review, quality assessment and improvement programs for the Clinic. Assists in ongoing benchmarking of practice of practice and providers.
  • Ensures departmental compliance with standards of regulatory agencies and third party payers.

    Responsible for second stage collection issues with clinic patients.
  • Coordinates all patient scheduling and clinic staffing at each site to facilitate accessibility and continuity of care and minimize patient waiting time.
  • Supervises employees, including evaluation of clinic personnel to assigned clinic sites.

    Manages central service functions (billing, reception, etc.) and educates and assists staff in setting up billing procedures, including Common Procedure Terminology (CPT) and Internal Classification of Diseases (ICD9) training.
  • Coordinates request of physicians and office staff at multiple sites in regards to patient activities and needs.
  • Maintains responsibility for department inventory and physical environment, including safety of patients, staff and physicians. Supports and refines procedures in the office.
  • Demonstrates minimum acceptable knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to provide care appropriate to all ages of the patient population served, based on physical, psychological, educational and safety needs.
  • Acts as a liaison with outside agencies, service bureaus and businesses.
  • Coordinates team and provider meetings and assists team and providers in planning for efficient high-quality care. Monitors and communicates with each team and their volume and quality goals.
  • Assures the provision of emotional and physical care of patients of all ages, including promoting positive relationships between patients, staff, families and visitors, assessment of the effects of cultural, social, economic and religious influence of patients.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings, and professional conferences.
  • Participates and attends meetings and in services as required and/or assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
  • Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s Degree, business major preferred and 5-10 yrs experience
    • -OR- combination of equivalent work experience
    • Experience in office management and the ability to implement related procedures
    • Advanced education may be substituted for some experience
    • Preferred Management Experience
      :
    • Experience in a clinic/office managerial position
