Being a Patient Transporter on the UPHSM team means having a dedication to making sure that a patient’s comfort and safety come first. This includes assisting patients to their destination in a timely manner and making sure that transportation equipment is properly maintained and assembled. Patients will rely on you to provide them with exemplary service and care.

Both patients and staff will depend on you to keep operations running smoothly and securely. Our Transporters are hardworking and caring, and they are proud to offer their patients the best possible service and comfort that they can, every day.
ResponsibilitiesAssist patients to their destination in a timely manner and ensure patient comfort and safety. Maintain and assemble transportation equipment as needed. Provide exemplary service and care to patients. Support smooth and secure operations within the facility.
QualificationsRequired Skills
- Our patients and the care they receive are our highest priority. An ideal candidate will put the patient at the forefront of everything we do.
- Good speaking and writing skills are important for successful communication within and between departments.
- Heavy physical effort may be required including lifting 50 pounds or more, prolonged standing and walking, and manual dexterity.
- Given the unpredictable nature of healthcare, there may be rare instances when you will be asked to contribute more or less time than you are traditionally scheduled for.

- High school or equivalent
Certification/Registration:
- Valid Michigan Driver’s License
Required Certification:
- Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) - Required at the time of hire or transfer.
