Join us at Council as our next Events & Community Partnerships Officer and help deliver initiatives that enhance the wellbeing, connection and vibrancy of our region. Play a key role in creating memorable community events, supporting local organisations, and strengthening partnerships across Marlborough. You’ll be part of a collaborative team energised by organising events and supporting our community to make a real difference.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and assist with the delivery of a range of Council-led and Council-supported community events such as Seniors’ Expos, Youth Council activities, workshops, awards evenings and more.
  • Assist with promoting events across multiple communication channels, including newsletters, media and printed guides.
  • Support the administration and delivery of Council grants - ensuring funding reaches the projects and groups that need it most.
  • Support the delivery ofkey projects and community initiatives.
  • Provide high-quality administrative and organisational support across the Events & Community Partnerships team.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders, community groups, youth, rural communities and partner organisations.
Role details

This is a permanent, part-time role of 35 hours per week.

Qualifications

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced in event or project coordination (minimum 3 years)
  • Community-minded, proactive and able to work effectively with a wide range of people
  • Highly organised, adaptable and confident with managing multiple tasks at once
  • A great communicator with strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
  • Skilled in administration, including budgets, grants processing and digital tools such as MS Office
  • Calm, professional and solutions-focused, even in busy periods
  • A minimum of NCEA Level 3 or equivalent is required
