Technical Sales, Sales Engineer
About The Role
As a Field Application Engineer (FAE), you will share revenue goals and work alongside the Sales team as the technical front‑runner in pre‑sales to understand each customer’s devices, tool chains, CI/CD setup, and compliance needs. You will be responsible for customers in the eastern U.S. & Canada territory, meaning: finding new prospects, creating technical workarounds to secure a deal, and acting as the crucial feedback loop between the customer's engineering reality and IAR’s product teams.
You will use curiosity and active listening skills to identify the specific pain points that matter to the customer; exploring low-level embedded challenges and gracefully navigating technical pushbacks without losing your composure.
You report to the FAE Manager for the U.S. region and work out of our Boston office, with regular travel across your territory (eastern U.S. & Canada) for customer meetings and events.
You’ll Deliver- Technical discovery & enablement: environment validation, issue reproduction, and clear guidance that accelerates evaluations.
- Onboarding support: targeted help that keeps new customers moving toward value, including creating and delivering technical training.
- Enterprise support: trusted, tailored post‑sales advice with Sales/Customer Success.
- Technical material: produce concise, useful content on a regular cadence (e.g., monthly).
You are energized by helping customers succeed and are comfortable switching between deep technical detail and clear, value‑driven explanations. You hold credible conversations no matter if it’s a technical or non‑technical stakeholder, instinctively tailoring your approach to the specific pain points of your audience to ensure our solutions resonate with their unique needs.
As a confident collaborator, you handle technical challenges with professional composure and maintain trust even when navigating product limitations. Above all, you act as a proactive partner to the sales team, independently managing your schedule and seeking out new ways to build
