Merchandise Planner (Apparel) – BJ’s Wholesale Club
Location:
Marlborough, MA. Hybrid role:
Tuesday-Thursday in-office at BJ's Club Support Center;
Monday and Friday remote.
The Planner is responsible for developing monthly financial plans and forecasts that align with the department strategy. Working cross-functionally with merchants in the forecasting process, you will maximize sales and profit while effectively turning inventory within the open‑to‑buy. At BJ’s, you will use analytics to drive the most profitable product lifecycle, including end‑of‑life management. Planners oversee and provide direction to allocation partners to ensure the right products are available in the right retail channel at the right time, meeting members’ expectations while achieving sales and profitability for the assigned department.
Responsibilities- Financial and department forecasting; strong knowledge of business metrics (sales, margin, inventory KPIs).
- Support optimal assortment and strategic flow plans; build effective sales and inventory plans to drive profitability; influence inventory productivity to include end‑of‑life activity.
- Identify business opportunities 1‑6 months out by analyzing trends within the business; apply market trend knowledge to planned categories.
- Partner with buyers to develop a monthly bottom‑up forecast focused on sales, margin, and inventory targets consistent with category strategy.
- Evaluate and communicate opportunities and risks, react to sales trends and inventory flow, and suggest markdowns and promotions to achieve sales‑margin and inventory objectives.
- Build and execute new business opportunities by measuring results and providing recommendations.
- Ensure department inventory plans and flow are executed for new club openings.
- Manage demand forecasts within JDA Demand or BY LDE to ensure order optimization.
- Manage article‑level ladder plans and build up to financial plans.
- Preferred 2‑5 years’ experience.
- Understanding of financial metrics including sales, margin, inventory turn, weeks of supply.
- Strong problem‑solving, retail math, and analytical skills.
- Organizes thoughts and communicates credibly and concisely.
- Ability to present to and influence team members and business partners using relevant data to articulate results and provide recommendations.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and cross‑functionally.
- Critical thinker capable of interacting professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
- Desire to coach, mentor, and onboard.
- Advanced Excel skills and planning‑software experience.

Compensation range: $60,500.00 – $79,500.00.
