As a Hardware Engineer you will join our Hardware and Infrastructure Engineering Team as part of our Connected Aviation Solutions business. This is an opportunity to join a team supporting the next generation Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems, as well as providing support to existing fielded systems. We are seeking an electrical/systems engineer with experience in electronic design, comfortable working with commercial off‑the‑shelf and custom hardware designs to achieve system requirements.

This opportunity requires a combination of classic design techniques, modern electronics knowledge, and hands‑on laboratory skills.

• Identify potential replacement hardware candidates, conducting trade studies with potential devices, and choosing the device that best meets the requirements
• Perform preliminary and detailed design activities
• Conduct testing activities in the lab in support of Engineering Change Proposals. Testing includes device‑level bench testing as well as integration testing in the system as a whole
• Troubleshoot lab and customer networks to resolve hardware, firmware, protocol, and interoperability issues for both internal and external customers
• Maintain and update scripting tool used to generate switch and router configuration files
• Mentor junior engineers along the development cycle of a product
• Interface with other disciplines (Configuration Management, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Supply Chain) in support of product development
• Opportunities to lead a small team of hardware development engineers in support of Engineering Change Proposals

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
• Experience configuring network switches and routers including multicast routing protocols
• Experience with network troubleshooting tools and techniques for example Port Mirroring, Wireshark, TCPDump, and iPerf
• Experience with Linux and shell scripting, such as Python, and Perl
• Experience developing technical documentation including configuration control, change management, trade studies, design artifacts, and verification test plans/reports
• Proven ability to collaborate across cross‑functional teams (e.g., field engineering, supply chain, suppliers, customers) and clearly communicate technical concepts to stakeholders with varying technical backgrounds

• Current or in‑progress computing/networking certification(s) (e.g. CCNA, AWS, CISSP)
• Experience working with Ixia or similar network test equipment
• Experience working with different network layers, firmware levels, protocols, dynamic and static unicast routing, dynamic and static multicast routing, signal strength and cabling best practices, timing specifications and other network related characteristics to provide highly reliable network configurations
• Experience working with networks composed of both new and legacy equipment from multiple vendors
• Experience designing with COTS devices
• Knowledge of Linux and Solaris operating systems
• Project or Team Lead experience
