As a Principal Mechanical Engineer on our Hardware Engineering Team in the Connected Aviation business, you will support next‑generation Air Traffic Control (ATC) systems and existing fielded systems. We seek an engineer with electronic design experience, comfortable with commercial off‑the‑shelf and custom hardware, combining classic design techniques, modern electronics knowledge, and hands‑on prototyping skills.

What You Will Do
  • Perform analysis, qualification and acceptance testing on components, assemblies, mechanical fixtures and/or structures.
  • Lead or participate as an independent reviewer in peer reviews, ensuring documentation standards, producibility and affordability.
  • Conduct lab testing to support Engineering Change Proposals, including prototype development, evaluation, and system integration testing.
  • Mentor junior engineers throughout the product development cycle, capturing lessons learned and best practices.
  • Interface with disciplines such as Configuration Management, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, and Supply Chain.
  • Lead hardware development engineers in support of Engineering Change Proposals.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Degree in STEM with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Experience completing technical documentation for Configuration Control, Change Management, Trade Studies, and Design artifacts.
  • Advanced experience with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA).
  • Proficient in 3D modeling and GD&T/tolerance analysis in Creo.
  • Proficient with cable design.
  • Understanding of engineering materials and production methods.
  • Prior experience collaborating in a multi‑functional environment.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.

  • Experience designing for integration of COTS devices.
  • Thermal and structural analysis experience.
  • Experience with transition to production.
  • Project or Team Lead experience.
