What You Will Do

The Manufacturing Facilities Technician at Aspen Aerogels is responsible for supporting the reliability, safety, and operational performance of facility infrastructure and production‑support systems within a highly technical advanced materials manufacturing environment. This role ensures that Aspen’s facilities, utilities, and supporting equipment operate efficiently and align with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards that support Aspen's mission of delivering high‑performance aerogel solutions.

Facilities

Maintenance and Operations
  • Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on facility systems including HVAC, electrical distribution, process piping, compressed air, and building automation systems.
  • Support the continuous operation of process‑critical utilities essential for aerogel production, including boilers, chillers, vacuum systems, and air handling units.
  • Monitor facility controls and identify opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, and energy performance consistent with Aspen Aerogels sustainability objectives.
Equipment Support
  • Assist with maintenance and troubleshooting for process‑support equipment used in aerogel manufacturing operations.
  • Coordinate vendor service, calibrations, and contractor support for specialized equipment and critical utility assets.
  • Maintain accurate CMMS records, work orders, and equipment documentation in accordance with Aspen's maintenance standards.
Safety Compliance
  • Ensure all facilities and equipment comply with OSHA, NFPA, environmental, and Aspen Aerogels corporate EHS requirements.
  • Actively participate in safety programs, risk assessments, incident investigations, and hazard identification activities.
  • Support EHS initiatives related to Aspen’s thermal protection, battery materials, and high‑temperature product operations.
Project Support
  • Support facility expansion, equipment installation, and capital improvement projects across Aspen manufacturing locations.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and EHS teams to implement upgrades that improve efficiency, capacity, and safety.
  • Assist in managing parts inventory, tools, and supplies needed for maintenance activities.
General Support
  • Respond to facility work requests and provide timely support to operations, engineering, and administrative functions.
  • Support snow removal, grounds keeping, and general facilities upkeep as required.
  • Participate in cross‑functional teams and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Aspen Aerogels operational excellence goals.
Why You Are Right for the Job
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred.
  • 3+ years of facilities, maintenance, or industrial experience, ideally in advanced materials or chemical manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of facility systems such as HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and process utilities.
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
