Position: Principal Electrical Engineer – Avionics

Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is a leader in advanced technology solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry. This role is part of our Hardware and Infrastructure Engineering Team and requires U.S. citizenship.

• Work onsite at our Marlborough, MA facility.
• Perform simulation and analysis using MATLAB, Python, or similar tools for system performance in areas such as target detection, estimation, clutter suppression, doppler sensing, and resource optimization.
• Operate several radar systems located primarily in MA, but also around the United States.
• Provide innovative design proposals for system enhancement, algorithm development, and optimization in support of key performance parameters.
• Implement software-based system changes (when applicable) to fulfill customer needs.
• Collaborate in an agile development environment with multiple engineering disciplines within RTX, suppliers, and customers to develop and deliver system enhancements for multiple stakeholders.

• Degree in a STEM field and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
• Experience with Active Electronically Scanned Arrays (AESA).
• Experience developing techniques for identification and extraction of features in large data sets using signal processing or machine learning.
• Experience in a C++, Python, and Java software development environment.
• Experience in a Linux environment.
• Experience with configuration management tools such as Git or Bitbucket.
• Experience working in a lab environment and operating RF and standard test equipment (spectrum and network analyzers, signal generators, oscilloscopes, etc.).

• PhD in mathematics, physics, or related fields.
• Experience with design and product development of software‑defined systems.
• Knowledge of real‑time computing and embedded processing.
• Experience with analyzing air traffic radar key performance parameters.
• Experience collaborating in agile development with systems and software engineering disciplines, suppliers, and customers to deliver safety‑critical air traffic surveillance systems.
