About the Role

Our Endoscopy Research and Development team is seeking a Systems Engineer who is passionate about improving patient outcomes across our increasing and wide range of complex systems‑based products. As part of the R&D team, you will be responsible for supporting the full product lifecycle of our electrosurgical devices as part of our high frequency (HF) capability team. At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring employees to be in our Marlborough, MA office at least three days per week.

Your Responsibilities Will Include
  • Act as an R&D Technical Lead responsible for technical direction and execution within a cross‑functional team.
  • Review electrical designs and changes for technical and safety efficacy.
  • Develop product requirements.
  • Develop and execute test methods and fixtures for design verification.
  • Define and execute test plans to support design verification.
  • Apply clinical and technical knowledge of electrosurgical devices (generators and single‑use devices) and procedures to develop and sustain a wide range of products.
  • Apply Electrical Engineering knowledge to design electrosurgical devices and solve complex problems.
  • Apply electrosurgical and product development knowledge to define best practices for how we develop, test and sustain products.
  • Apply project management principles to plan, track, execute and report status of projects within a range of team sizes.
  • Proactively build relationships and collaborate with cross‑functional partners to ensure technical deliverables meet stakeholder needs.
  • Identify and build relationships with external device manufacturers.
  • Lead and execute activities to ensure the safety, quality, and compliance for the design of products while continuously improving their commercial value through end of life.
  • Ensure products are compliant with electrical safety standards and other regulatory requirements.
  • Design, develop, debug, modify, and test design solutions by using current tools, analysis techniques, and technologies.
  • Partner with technical leaders to solve problems using theoretical analysis, experimentation, and problem‑solving methodologies to make data‑based design decisions.
  • Design engineering tests and experiments.
  • Perform troubleshooting on products and manufacturing processes as related to design, material, or process.
  • Summarize, analyze, and draw conclusions from test results.
  • Prepare standard reports/documentation to communicate results to technical community.
Required Qualifications
  • 8+ years in product development
  • Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field (computer, software, systems).
  • Proficient with electrical engineering and bioinstrumentation principles.
  • Proficiency with lab equipment including power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeters, spectrum/signal/logic analyzers.
  • Effective communications/presentation skills to all levels of the organization (both written and verbal).
  • 10% travel, including international.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s or Ph.D degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related fields (computer, software, systems).
  • Experience working within Design Controls or equivalent for Medical Device Industry.
  • Clinical and technical knowledge of electrosurgical devices and procedures.
  • Electrical safety (IEC 60601‑1), HF (IEC 60601‑2‑2) and EMI/EMC (60601‑1‑2) standards experience.
  • In depth knowledge of new product development processes.

Requisition

Minimum Salary: $103,700

Maximum Salary: $197,000
