We’re looking for an enthusiastic Education Coordinator – Arts, Culture & Heritage to join our team and help inspire young minds across Marlborough. Someone with a passion for local history, museums, arts, culture — bringing stories to life and sharing that passion with our young Tamariki. In this role, you’ll design and deliver exciting education programmes that connect tamariki and rangatahi (Years 1–13) with the rich stories of Marlborough. You’ll work closely with schools, kura, museums, heritage groups, and community organisations to create hands‑on, curriculum-aligned learning experiences — both in the classroom and out in the community.

Key tasks include:

• Creating engaging, curriculum-based programmes focused on Marlborough’s arts, culture, and heritage
• Partnering with local museums and heritage groups to turn their collections into compelling learning experiences
• Delivering programmes in schools, kura, museums, and community spaces
• Building strong relationships with teachers, iwi, community groups, and sector partners
• Preparing grant applications to support the long-term viability of the programme
• Encouraging Te Ao Māori and Te Reo in programme development and delivery
• Helping shape the direction of Heritage Marlborough as part of the leadership team

The position is set for 10 hours per week, until December 2026.

• A Salary range of $15,000 to $17,000 per annum (this will depend on the knowledge, skills and experience you have to offer).

You’ll thrive here if you have:

• Teaching experience (ideally two+ years)
• Strong knowledge of the New Zealand curriculum, especially social sciences
• A genuine interest in history, museums, and the arts
• Confidence engaging with learners from Year 1 to Year 13
• Great communication skills, heaps of initiative, and a warm, approachable style
• An openness to learning more about te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo
• Solid digital literacy and a willingness to grow your IT skills

A teaching qualification (Bachelor of Teaching or Grad Dip Teaching) is preferred. But your skills of being a natural educator with a love for storytelling, connection, and community will shine.
