The General Labourer is responsible for the handling, consolidating and processing of hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials received by the Processing Facilities. The General Labourer must display a focus on safety and efficiency in a team environment while performing moderately labour intensive and repetitious tasks. This position's working schedule is from Thursday - Monday from 8:15 am - 4:45 pm and Sunday 8:15am-3:45pm  at our Markham MHSW Depot.

* Key Responsibilities:

*** Provide excellent customer service to the residents of York Region that visit the depot
* Have good communication skills to deal with York Regional employees, and the public
* Have read and understand all training documents on-site
* Receive MHSW from residents
* Identify, sort, and pack MHSW into the appropriate containers
* Maintain clean grounds and facility
* Follow Supervisor’s instructions
* Wear all of the required PPE at all times
* Work in a safe manner at all times
* Maintain and report any equipment that needs repair
* Comply with all rules and regulations to do with operating the depot

Competencies:

*** Ability to perform moderately labour intensive and repetitious tasks
* Physically fit with the ability to lift +50lbs and stand on cement for extended periods of time
* Excellent communication skills
* Planning and organizational skills
* Ability to analyze and solve problems
